The difference in performance also might be in the tyres/grip.

I'd like to know what tyres he had on the car. He'd put bigger wheels on (I think they were around 17's), but what his priorities are as far as tyres and handling go, I don't know.

My car's still on its original front tyres at 23,500 miles, they'll need changing soon but I'll vapourise them first . I've had a rear replaced due to a puncture.

The Corsa's going for its' first MOT today; It doesn't seem like 3 years' since it was first registered and it still looks and feels like new (when clean!).

That's 37,600km, not bad. The tyres on the Mini (which were Dunlops) lasted until 46,500km, but I reckon we shouldn't have waited that long before changing them, by then they were absolutely destroyed especially the front ones.
