I thought that the V8 was gone from the EU market since the original S5 Sportback/Cab. came out a couple of years ago.

Only reason why the S5 still had/has the V8 period is because in NA, while the S4 is marketed as a hard-core sports sedan, the S5 has been offered as a entry-level GT car.
Power to me is having the ability to make a change in a positive way. Don't dream it, be it.

I believe the S5 retained the V8, but the S4.5 sportyback thing had the SV6.

Saloon, estate, hatchback and cabriolet had the supercharged V6 from the moment they were introduced. The coupé has retained the old 4.2 litre V8, which is less powerful than the one in the A8, until now.

I don't think it's got anything to do with the character of the cars, more with emissions and fuel consumption regulations.

I think the bumff said something about the nature of the cars when it happened, but yea.. that's marketeering.

Smart looking car, all these powerful Saloon, estate, hatchback and cabriolet are getting smaller engines and adding Turbo's and superchargers. Thats a shame but cars like this can't just carry on gaining more bhp every new model, they also need to be better cars, drink less fuel and produce less Co2. ( that why their engines are getting smaller) I hate it whan car like the BMW M5 and Audi RS6 is that it's just about which car has the most power, (i know these car need lots of power and i'm not saying i hate them being fast) The new M5 will have 552 bhp you can bet that another car like the RS6 will come alonge with more power. Cars like the M5 and RS6 need to be good at other things other than which is the most powerfull.

Like the when they said they didn't offer the duel clutch in the TTRS, because the RS customer didn't want an automatic...

The old Audi RS6 already has more power than the current M5...
