    2. I won't get it into/out of college
    3. I won't get it into/out of work
    4. I won't get it most places around here
    5. I have to take the puppy out for walks in here meaning it goes along very potholed tracks every day

I've taken it into my local independant garage to have some oil drained and have the nasty rattle looked at, should get it back this afternoon.

    How did it go?

Sounds like a Heatshield rattle, not too uncommon.

Spot on Adam, I had a look under in the student carpark on Thursday, wiggled the pipe to try to get the rattle going but to no avail. Said to my mate who was watching 'gotta be a heat shield.' Dad reckoned it could be gear linkage due to it coming most when under load but I didn't agree. As I don't have the facilities to get under the car at home we took it in, £21.90 lighter it's back rattle free, heat sheild had come loose at one end when the mid & end section of the exhaust were replaced in March, it'd had lost the bolt about 2 weeks ago after some 3,000mi. Parked next to a gorgeous black Lupo GTI at work today, got I want one.

Actually no, they're very rare over here, I've only ever seen 6 like it, it seems everyone here went for the Fastback.
Mines completely stock and is staying that way, it's a good little car, did 122mi in it today

Not bad. You know, you may wish to hang on to it. Some days I wish I had a little beater along those lines, especially when I was going to move North where it's snowy and they still follow the archaic practice of tossing salt on the roads to de-ice. I don't really need one now that I'm moving back to the Land Where It Never Snows, but there are still certain days when I feel like it would be nice to have a beater to drive.

Decision may be taken out of my hands in March, Dad's buying my Mum a new car and is thinking about giving me some money to buy something cheap in a lower insurance group so he can get me on my own policy, so by then I may be in an '03 Fiat Stilo 3dr 1.4 16v Active Sport

Mazda is filthy at the moment (exterior) may treat it to a proper wash at the garage...

You know my opinion abotu the Fiat, not bad but not great either.

If only you weren't so damn big and insurance wasn't so expensive...

    this in particular.

the only good thing about the Stilo is that it is build in the "old-fashion-way", so it can even be funny to drive, quite sincere at the limit, and solid. electronic is a pain in the ass lately, but the mileage is freakin' good. nothing else to say.

haha, I retract my statement about the Fiat, Dad and I were discussing my research and I got as far as 'Fi..' and he goes 'AHA..HAHA. NO! YOU ARE NOT HAVING A FIAT!' I'm like 'WHAAAT!?' 'They're rubbish! One step up from a bloody Alfa Romeo in my books!' 'From what experience AND YOU CONSIDERED A 156 YEARS AGO!!' 'Jonathan had one as his first car and it was terrible!' 'YEAH, IN NINETEEN EIGHTYFOUR!!!'

He suggested a Ford Ka - I said 'KaHa! No.'
He suggested a Ford Fiesta - I said 'Find me one like this for that money'

Back to the drawing board I guess...

Oh, The 'JapChat' forum on Piston Heads is useless, my drivers window gets stuck halfway up and requires about 10mins of man-handling to get it up, how in gods name do I fix this? I'm fairly handy with a screw driver but clumsy and forgetful... Any help would be appreciated!

So now basically you are potentially car-less.

Back to square 1, I guess.

Tom, did you ever get the window fixed?

Sounds like the window regulator is sticking.

Get the door card off (may involve a bit of work) and have a weee poke around.

And japchat is useless isnt it, its about as dead as a bloomin funeral directors.
