Ford Focus ST for sale in Mexico

I was just browsing Ford's web site here in Mexico and came across the surprise that the Focus ST is for sale here. Cost depending on the exchange rate is about $29,000.00 USD.

I wonder if it'll be sold in the US also?

Ford's not gonna sell many $30,000 Focii in the States... There's too many better cars at lower price points.

In the real world the niche market vehicles really will not contribute to any form of profit. A good affordable family car is what would stop Ford bleeding, not some idiotic hot hatch.

Specially one that had such a huge gestation period and is full of out-sourced equipment.

But hot versions of regular products would help improving the image of the brand and that particular model, helping at the same time increase the sales.

What they should do is screw the Mk I Focus altogether and bring the Mk II to the US.

Something like the Ford Five-Hundred, Ford Fusion, or the wagon/sedan versions of the Focus? :P You can't fault them for not trying.

(there's also all the volvos, mazdas, mercurys, lincolns)

They launched an all new Focus last month.

Yep, Chrysler got out of the hole back in the 80s with K-cars and minivans, not Vipers and Chargers...

Too bad the U.S. Focus is still going to be using the same platform!

How does the Focus ST compare to the new Golf GTI? Price wise they are about the same here.

A fully loaded 4 door GTI is $32,145. DSG, Package 2, Nav, iPod adapter, 18" Hufs, Votex kit. But most of the GTIs sold aren't sold that way. They're mostly Pack 1 cars, the 18's, and maybe the Votex kit. Which is around $26,000.

Then there's the competition- Mazda MS3, Civic SI. Hell, at $30k they're competing with the Mustang GT. At that pricepoint, I don't see them selling many ST's here.

who cares about the price the point is if you live in the states and you want a Focus ST now you know where to go.

Thanks for the info Quiggs, I guess I should have specified, I was talking about how they match up performance wise.

Depends, the Mustang GT is in that price range here too and I've seen quite a few GTI's along with Mustangs on the road here. Guess it comes down to personal preference.

Along with other non US sold cars, I'm glad I moved here.

Ditto. Just stay out of Mexico City, you'll be fine.
