We had an AX for about 16 years, new muffler after 1 year, the propelers in the water pump went roten after 2 years, the back whiper engine started rolling up it's own electrical wiring... small stuff really, engine still runs today and is used every day, so the car is now about 18 years and going. not the best of cars, not the worst either. great fun to drive.

I forgot to tell we had a Renault 18 Turbo (1.6 125bhp) that we drove daily for 14 years. It was very, very reliable. It had an engine rebuild once because it had too many miles for a Turbo car.
We also had an 86 Renault Trafic. We sold it with never having trouble.
We also had a late 60's Renault 4L which had awfull brakes but was very reliable.

    Golden words.

There is no such thing as mythically (un)reliable car.

lol, my Dad's first car was a really old, banana yellow Renault 5, the only problem he had with that was rust and himself!, Not long after my granny gave it to him, he drove up the back of a Lotus, which consequently fell apart, still causing enough damage to the Renault for it to be uneconomically viable for repair. lol

yes, my first car was a Renault 4GTL and after two days we got stranded because the carburettor needle got stuck. It 's been bad ever since (1979)

and my second car was a Visa SuperE and guess what, somebody hit the car parked next to mine and bumped it straight into the B-pillar of the Visa. Any german car would have fought back....

    I did a short drive in a Megane from a class-mate.

Let me find them in the big mess, called my room. IIRC Renault was leading German break-down statistics.

    First link on Google:

    Just google for yourself

Above that, it is one of the stuff you pick up on the way in conversations.... For a school assignment I have been to a Renault garage and the mechanics said that 75% of the failures they experienced were elctrical.
