    First day of work today!

    And it's fantastic!

For those that didnt read the "Work Experience" thread, 3 days into my Placement i was offered a Saturday job at the local Subaru / Isuzu garage.

What i am really doing just now is cleaning cars, but using the best of equipment and products. I am also learning Bodywork, which includes taking out scratches, fixing dents etc. I'll soon be moving onto the mechanical side, and have already done a pieces of that, Replaced brake pads, installed suspension kites, etc.

For what i do, I get paid £3.40 an hour... cant really compalain at that, worked 6hrs today and ended up with something like £20.

Will be doing work on holidays too. I really like my job, the people i work with are a fantastic bunch, young and old, and we all get on really well. They are constantly selling cars so there is always something to do! Its a fantastic job and I really like working there, getting paid is a bonus!

So, What did you do on your first day of work, and what were you working as?

Awesome, I'm trying to get my Mum to talk to her friend about a job at his Scooby Dealership, currently I work at a pub the other end of town, I hate my job but £4 per hour is cool, despite having to work all weekend so I get money, but have absolutely no free time. I'm a Kitchen Porter so I do random jobs in the kitchen mainly washing up and chopping stuff, I'm alo kinda a trainee chef too. I'll be quitting soon when I find a better job

    1 British pound = 1.9311 U.S. dollars

So it's more like 6.56 usd, which is slightly more than minimum wage in MD, and I assume it's in the neighborhod of minimum wage there.

Good to hear you found a job that you seem to like.
On the first day of my first real internship (not a making coffee/copying piles of paper one) I did researches on romanian agricultural equipment market, level of usage of EU funds in Poland, average prices of forklifts in Germany and conditions required to get a VIP account in 10 major Polish banks. It was in McKinsey Warsaw Office.

BTW, yesterday I got a new job Starting in April, I'll now work as a Meta-Data Analyst at Reuters Polska.
It's not denial. I'm just very selective about the reality I accept.

    Yup, sure is.

Here is the WR1. As said, owner had it and lost his lisence within 4 months cause he got caught speeding so many times!

There is also the very special "RB320" Impreza here too... That is taking pride of place in the showroom and I dont think they are in any hurry to sell it. Now that is some monster!!

I was curious about this as well, so I found the following on HM Revenue website:

£5.35 per hour for workers aged 22 years and older
A development rate of £4.45 per hour for workers aged 18-21 inclusive
£3.30 per hour for all workers under the age of 18, who are no longer of compulsory school age.
Anyway congrats on getting a first job doing something you love.

Do you have any RB5s around?
I love the wheels on the WR1, one of the science teachers at school had an 03 WRX with Prodrive bodykits and 19in alloys, now he's got an 05 WRX STi with the horrible bile coloured wheels. nice car though..
