Wouldn't go so far as to say dead straight away, but in a fair amount of trouble, yeah.

I definitely agree, but I think it might be a question of safety. If a car cannot be 'molested' with safer roll cages/bars, then better helmets might be required when the cars actually give it some.
If it were parade laps I would daresay that most drivers would use period helmets.

integral helmets were already there, but they were white, and not used for all sorts of commercial activities...
