I quite like it. I think its very different, although "crossover" might not be what I would label it, its certainly the best alternative to an SUV or minivan. I think it will sell well.

I certainly think Ford could've gotten away with sliding doors on it, it would clearly identify it as a car for families. But the question is, do Ford want it to be just for families?
Ford didn't put sliding doors on it because they finally realized that mini vans suck balls.

An extra sale is an extra sale i suppose. I dont see this as too different to the Territory, which again was supposed to combine elements of MPV's, SUV's and family sedans.
The long sliding hinge was probably one thing Ford wanted to avoid when choosing to forgo the sliding door, although from some of the pics of MPV's provided before, they seemed to have hidden then rather well.

Hmm. On its own, I think it's not bad. Not great, but not bad. On the other hand, I like it because it's not bad while being different from most other things.
