May as well ask here, why did the Sunoco 917-30 feature +Audi on the livery?

IIRC most Audi dealers in the US when the cars were current also sold Porsche

I didn't even know that Audi was in the States in the early 70s - a shitty source seems to say the entered the US market in 1969. News to me - Audis must have been ultra rare in the 70s in America.

That is correct....when I bought my new Audi Coupe in 1981 they were still Porsche + Audi dealers.

I recall seeing Audi Fox's(Audi 80) and Audi 100's in the early 70's. I believe they were sold here beginning in '73.
