Earthquake Testing with 7 Story Building

This is kind of interesting for those who haven't already seen it.

    This shaker table:

Was used to shake a 7-story 275 ton test building to validate the results from a computer model. A high res video of the test, as well as overlays of the computational results can be found here:

The video I watched was kind of anti-climatic. I don't know I guess I should probably watch all the videos I just don't feel like it right now.

This is pretty cool, I came across that wind turbine built on the shaker table last semester when I was designing a turbine for one of my classes, we had to design the tower of the turbine to withstand all kinds of forces and bending moments from wind, rotating blades, etc. The turbine in that photo is much smaller than the design we created, the nacelle was extremely large (the kind they land a helicopter on when performing maintenance) and the power output was approx. 2 MW, this one looks like something a private owner might buy. Very cool stuff (both the shaker table and wind turbines - that's the future of energy right there.)
Signature? We don't need no steenking signature

Yea I got that feeling too. Maybe because the base excitation was to short, or because the building didn't collapse. I guess I would like to have seen more of the first followed by the second ;-)
