That's the point- the LSX is most definitely a Chevy small block, and the tall deck version has a max displacement of over 500 c.i. Got this both from GMPP and from Super Chevy magazine.


As far as the balance on my car, it was designed with an LB9, another cast iron Chevy block, so balance shouldn't be far off stock, and after weight reduction (doors, windows, hood, driveshaft, quite a lot of interior bits) curb weight would be well under 3000 lbs with driver.

Sure you can get an aluminum block with an LS7, but that defeats the whole purpose of being cost effective now doesn't it? And remember displacement is not equal to weight. GM put a lot of engineering time into the development of this engine.
