    Dad's new Ram

My Dad also bought himself a new vehicle this weekend.

'07 Dodge Ram 1500 Megacab 4x4 Hemi 6' bed. With a solid axle out front, this truck is badass. Itseant to replace our Ford Escape and F150 to be taken skiing and to tow our 26' pontoon boat. The F150 with 4.6 had trouble towing the boat, hence the Hemi, and it's gotta be roomy and comfy enough for 8+ hour stints going skiing, hence the Mega Cab and 4x4. It's even a little bit quick with the Hemi. What's funny is that my Dad's surprised by its lack of fuel economy...

No worries, not a bad truck. Your dad shouldn't be too surprised, can't imagine a 4.8 being fuel efficent to begin with, let alone a 5.7. Looks solid, and i don't think u need to fear the green, save the earth hippies, cause i haven't met too many on ultimate

The 4.6 F150 would actually average ~15mpg around here, and got almost 21 when we took it on a roadtrip - I'd have called that a pretty efficient rig considering its size and weight, and considering that a/c was running the whole way on the roadtrip. The Semi-Hemi struggles to break 15 even on the highway - no surprises there on my part

I was trying to delete one of your double posts and ended up getting rid of the attachments... I blame it on Wouter though. Please re-attach them, and sorry about that

No worries. It was my fault I made you have to fool with it in the first place...so we're even! Thanks for all the work! I even found an extra photo I wanted to post, so it worked out for the better.

Nice! It looks badass. I would have taken a Superduty personally I haven't driven either of them though.

I was almost run off the road by one of those today. One with Ontario plates ! No idea how he got here (along with a Ford Windstar, they were driving together).

Cool engine but, it's still a truck.

I haven't seen many megacabs but I've seen enough not to like them. They look awkward, and unproportional.

Personally, I'm neither here nor there on how it looks, but when you get inside, you understand why they did it. The back seat is HUMUNGOUS, and the back seats even recline a little bit. Compare this to the standard crew cab on Rams; they're pretty small. For as long as somebody'd have to sit back there going skiing, it's without a doubt the right choice in bodystyles.

Well I'll say one thing...we've towed our boat twice now with this beast and it's absolutely amazing how easily it tows compared to our old F150 with the little 4.6 liter...

Is there some sort of ski resort in Texas that I haven't heard about? Or do you mean water ski?

    sweet truck!

those super cabs are kinds silly lookin from the side but i quit doubting them once i sat in one! they are very nice.

as for the hemi, that should be no surprise. dodge has traditionally been #3 among the big 3 when it comes to fuel economy. luckily for dodge though, their trucks are so darn good lookin it doesn't matter much.
