    jesus christ!

lay off drakkie for f*cks sake. He isnt cheating. everybody in any photo competition edits. It isnt even worth it here because there are other photos in previous comps that deserve much more inspection. Drakkies photo shows no signs of dramatic editing. I personally dont care if there are a few bits n bobs tweaked here and there, because whenever i work on a photo for projects thats the least I would do. I'd hardly call it cheating. Change the subject for one week. ok?

Mabye if we just banned all edits we wouldn't even have these stupid arguments. Can't everybody just take a shot without editing it?

Erm, excpet those who chose to abide by the RULES of this competition.

    I'd hardly call it cheating.
    cheat·ing - v. intr,

    1. To act dishonestly; practice fraud.
    2. To violate rules deliberately, as in a game.

If he is deliberately breaking the rules of the competition then cheating is EXACTLY what it is.

Whether Drakkie has edited his pic or not is not for me to say, I'm no expert on digital photography. But if he has then his entry is clearly inadmissable under the rules. I don't see what's so hard to comprehend about that?

QFMFT. Federal Agent Jack Bauer never fails. Cheating => ego stroke.

Also, I tried editing a photo for the first time and am wondering if a photo like this is to much. And I ask where the fine line is for allowed editing. Cropping appears to be legal but anything done in photoshop is illegal? Or can you lighten/ darken a photo? This is done with slight editing of dark and light shadows and is not an entry. That little blotch in the middle sky is a smudge on the camera.

ok, i see DRAMATIC editing in drakkie's pic. it is blatantly obvious that he heavily dodged and burned, whether from selectively combining two different exposures from the same image, or from two images taken at different exposures. i am all for a competition with little to no rules on editing, but while some of us choose to abide by the rules, others are clearly not following them. the penalty for voting for yourself is 2 weeks. we never specified a penalty for cheating but i think that sounds good.

drakkie, PLEASE do not take this the wrong way. i got nothing against you, and i really think it is an excellent photo. keep the edited pic and use it for everything except this competition. but if we dont punish blatant infractions then theres no point in having any rules.

(if you want to appeal for a change in the rules go for it, i would but im always bitching about that so im not gonna on this one )

SPHFerrari, I will guide this question to you since you are quite knowledgable on photography. How can I reduce noise in the snow photo above, specifically in the sky area
