    Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8?

I go to high school, bout to be a senior. In my schools parking lot there is a Jeep Grand Cherokee with a Mercedes badge on the side and a SRT8 logo on the back. Ive heard stories about how this SUV tore up this 07 Mustang GT that this other rich mofo has. Now this is the first of these mean looking jeeps ive ever seen. Can anyone spread some light on this thing for me?

First and foremost there should not be a mercedes badge on the side of the jeep. Are you sure that this is in fact a SRT-8 Jeep? I'll post some pictures of one many of the Viperalley guys have them and love them. They supposedly handle well for an SUV and with a 6.1 V8 they can fly. The 2008's will have 500hp, but the current models have 415hp and 410lb/ft torque.

Quick in a straight line, but that's all.

And with a live rear axle it has to be scary...

    I imagine so.

Also IIRC it is completely and utterly pointless, as you couldn't even pretend to take it off road, as they pulled out all useful 4wd gear and you can't even tow with it, because the idiots fitted central exhausts.

Don't want to start a debate all over again, but proper suspension would help to make it less lairy, probably.

It may not suppost to have it, but there is a little mercedes 3-point star on the side right above the Jeep on the side. And yes im sure its the SRT8, it has the SRT8 emblem on the back left side i believe and the exhaust pipes shoot out the middle of the back.

You've clearly never driven a car with a solid rear axle before.
A properly setup SRA will handle great. And just adding IRS will only make the car ride better, not handle better, unless its tuned for handling. A great example of this is the 99+ SVT Cobra, which came with IRS, and owners are swapping in SRAs for better handling, ironic...

Maybe the fact that its a 5000lbs SUV has something to do with it...

You are right I've neve driven a car with a live rear axle. But I'm wanting to bet that an ML63 AMG can outhandle the Cherokee SRT-8. Not that I'm that bothered though.

I've seen a SRT8 around my neighborhood. It's got a nice rumble, I give it that, but I don't really care much about it. American cars don't really catch my attention much.

I worked At a Jeep Chrysler dealership for the last 3 years, One of the big perks of that is the abilityt o drive all of these cars, Once I got to drive a Dodge Ram SRT-10 So of course i floored it seeing how it did, It eased me back into the seat and was pretty damn fast, About 2 weeks later I got to Drive a Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT-8 So of course i did the same thing, When i floored it It hit me back hard enough into the seat that it hurt getting out Lol, I think Its a great SUV and shows The true american Way, Balls To the wall, But i agree with the previous statement what i dont like is the fact that they put the exhaust pipes In the center so Its Not possible to be able to tow anything witht the stock exhaust, Other than that Its a great Vehicle

Thanks for the info, I always assumed it was because a SRA is better for drag racing. You should present this information to Ferrari.... those dumb pasta eaters have been using IRS on there F1 cars since the 60s.
