The R8 motor was really a 1.8T with some extra cylinders.

And had Dr Ullrich as team manager. The Bentley thing was just a marketing stunt by VAG.

Still, it had the most stunning design since the 90's IMO. Looks better than the 908 as a coupe.

It's time to move on, TDI n3v4r l053!!!

I think we need to get the fanboys out of this thread. Wait, there would be no thread. Nevermind.

KOTR, I was playing Initial D with my Toyota Trueno GT-Apex (AE86) and I got the Fujiwara Tofu shop sticker which adds about 1 billion BHP to the AE86.

Obviously, Initial D arcade stage isn't popular in Europe.

When I get my first car I'll make sure I buy all the tofu manufacturer labels I can and stick them on my car.

Technically the Bentley is a completely different car, having a different chassis, built by a different company, to different tyre rules, etc.

The year Bentley won was due to a R8 no show, not due to a R8 repaint

It still was loosely based in an Audi (the R8C), with an Audi engine, run by Audi people, with Audi money and with Audi and Joest help too.

    So pretty much Audi then.

Except for that it was not the same car and it was most certainly not based on the R8C. The only component that was used from Audi was the engine block. There were also two distinct versions of the Bentley, with the winning car being considerably different from the one used in the previous two years. Audi obviously did support the project, but saying it's pretty much Audi does not really do the car justice.
