    Movie Recommendations

Thought I'd make a thread for this. Because I'm more often than not lost for choices of what DVD to rent or to buy or what film to watch in general. So recommend any movies you really enjoyed either on DVD or at the cinema to other members. Post a trailer or screen capture if possible

2001: Space Odyssey - not high paced action, very slow but gorgeous

Band of Brothers - requisite viewing

Brother - excellent story about a multiracial gang that smoke a lot of people

Casino / Goodfellas / The Departed - excellent gangster flicks directed by Martin Scorsese

Das Leben Der Anders was really good, not all that action packed, but very interesting. You might need to turn the subtitles on though.

Mr. Brooks was really good, didn't get to see the whole thing in theaters, so I will definitely rent it when it comes out.

    Oceans 13 was decent...

Reno 911: Miami was really funny.

That's about all I've seen lately. Then of course there's classics like Blazing Saddles.
He came dancing across the water
    With his galleons and guns
    Looking for the new world
In that palace in the sun
    On the shore lay Montezuma
With his cocoa leaves and pearls

    The Prestige.

Really, really surprisingly good film. Even better if you liked Memento.

The Boondock Saints, fantastic low-budget movie.

American History X, fantastic movie in general.

Snatch, incredible movie, Fight Club, great movie based on a great book.

Too bad you could only recommend a small few movies, black, seems like you have good taste.

    Nice recommendations there.

Just a suggestion, could you put those names into English translations? It's easier to search for that way. Thanks.

Saving Private Ryan is also good, if it hasn't been mentioned before.

The Lord of the Ring trilogy is good too.

If you don't mind subtitles, IMHO Taxi and Taxi 2 are both worth watching. Fairly unchallenging, but entertaining, none the less.

And no, not the bloody american remake...
