    2008 Mugen Civic RR

Source: 2008 Mugen Civic RR - AutoWeek

    2008 MUGEN CIVIC RR
ON SALE: September 13 in Japan (only 300 cars)
    BASE PRICE: $40,000
    POWERTRAIN: 2.0 liter, 240 hp @ 8000 rpm, 160 lb-ft @ 7000 rpm, front-wheel drive, 6-speed manual
    0-60 MPH: 5.8 sec (est)

If you think the Japanese-market 2008 Honda Civic Type-R we recently drove was a great car, get a load of this fire-breathing Mugen version. The Civic Mugen RR, on sale for a hefty $40,000 on Sept. 13, packs even more power and performance. The Mugen-tuned four-cylinder motor produces 240 hp and 160 lb-ft of torque, up from 225 hp and 158.5 lb-ft.

Curb weight drops 22 pounds thanks to the addition of lightweight body parts like the carbon front bumper, hood and rear spoiler. The rear bumper gets a F1-style LED center-mounted fog light, but itís the huge twin-exit exhaust system that will grab all the attention.

Mugen has also retuned the suspension and upgraded the braking system to match the added performance, no doubt making this one the fastest and best driving front- wheel-drive cars in the world.

Your $40,000 will also get you more supportive Recaro buckets clad in soft alcantara leather and lots of lovely carbon detailing in the engine bay. Only 300 lucky owners will get their hands on the RR, which is available in every color you want, as long as itís red.
    Wow, talk about a beast!

That's $8,000 for 15 hp, 1.5 lb-ft, 22 pounds less, and Recaros. You could lose as much weight if not more by simply taking out the A/C and radio. Then put a chip in for more power, with plenty of money left to make:

Mazdaspeed 3 is only $25k and has 260hp. Why not just get one of those and you've got alot left over.

EDIT: just looked it up, does 0-60 in 5.8 seconds as well

Well, first of all none of you guys are ever going to lay your hands on one (or see one for that matter) since they are limited edition and second of all they are only going to be available in Japan. It's a cool limited edition car you will never see. Jeez.

Are you telling me if you won this car in a contest or if it was a lower price you wouldn't want it? I would take it, most definitely.

IMHO there's only one honda that's truely great and thats my lawn mower
seriously now : that car is the classic honda philosophy (no torque)without honda pricing. for 40000 you could get a VW r32 and be left with enough money to spend on another cool VW

EDIT: I do seriously have a honda lawn mower

    lawn mower needs vtec though

I can't say that this is one of the cars that would catch my eye if I was driving on the road or if it did it may be for the wrong reasons. The package is too expensive for what you actually get. Would rather have one of the following cars that seem to have about the same if not more to offer for a similar price:
    eBay Motors: Audi : S4 (item 170136743152 end time Aug-07-07 16:16:20 PDT)
    eBay Motors: BMW : M3 (item 220134894027 end time Aug-07-07 03:26:37 PDT)
    eBay Motors: Mercedes-Benz : E-Class (item 140143501223 end time Aug-09-07 20:42:35 PDT)

I would take any car if I won it in a contest. However, I would sell this particular car. I certainly wouldn't buy one, even if it cost less (Which is a pointless thought, because it......doesn't).

Well, you might as well start making up scenarios of it costing less because even if you had the money or wanted to buy it, I really doubt you could get your hands on one. Probably already all spoken for.
