    But the actual skins of these newer supercars are flammable, that's why they burn and leave little behind.

    i.e. How many average cars are made compared to how many burn into a skeleton compared to how many supercars are made compared to how many burn? I never said normal cars aren't flammable, its just not as flammable as this.

    Fibreglass cars have always burned quickly
    Just that most production line cars use steel as it's easier/cheaper
    here's an "old" car after a minor fire - A110 ......

    When you have flammable liquids, friction, sparks, heat, smaller explosions etc. there is a risk of fire. The only reason that these pics surface is because it happened on a 'special' car. If you saw a Ford Telstar next to the road on fire you wouldn't necessarily take pics and send them to 'Jalopnik' or whatever, you'd just drive straight past. It happens to all cars.

    See attached a truck in Italy that caught on fire in 2006. Funny that, it didn't make the news...
    Thanks for the relief Sauc3. You've reassured me that it's ok for me to buy an R8 (which I may be able to do considering my next job!).
