    Spam accounts.

It seems there are more and more of these posting on the forums. Is there any type of typing what an image says in a text field to stop this kind of thing or is that already in place and it is a different issue?

One of the side affects of removing the option for new members to post new threads seems to be the spammers are just posting in any old thread. I dont understand what you mean though with the last statement.

I think he's talking about how some sites make you type in a series of letters/numbers that you see in an image during registration in order to prevent bots from gaining membership.

    There is.
If you should see a man walking down a crowded street talking aloud to himself, don't run in the opposite direction, but run towards him, because he's a poet. You have nothing to fear from the poet - but the truth.

OK i understand. Maybe something could be done with the existing setup, even just to slow down the quick reply process like having to click something to enable the quick reply field, then before pressing reply you have to confirm you have read the forum guidelines etc. I doubt it will eradicate the problem or even significantly decrease it, but it could also have an effect with our regular moderating with many members probably not aware of all of the guidelines and only finding out after theyve done something wrong.

If members couldnt' post till one day after registering then it might help.
SPammers don't tend to hang around for long ( maybe even just a few hours woudl be enough )
    ?Just an idea?

Nah, I think the number of spammers is still too low to start hampering new members for. Seeing as everybody is behaving well, it's the only thing moderators have to do anyways.

OK, so how about addingh a SPAM button for the mods ?
One click and it automatically deletes it and marks it spam -- and even send a spam infraction ?
Just 4 mouse clicks is sooooo much work ...............

I dont bother with infractions for spammers, i highly doubt theyre going to stick around and take the warning, so i just jump straight to the perma-ban.

It's the little red/white triangle in the top right corner of a post.
