    Discover Ralph Lauren's car collection

Didn't know if anyone heard. I just saw this in my news ticker on the side of my computer screen.

"The Discovery Channel airs a one hour special this Saturday night, October 6, about the incredibly rare and classic cars in Ralph Lauren's collection. Didn't know Ralph Lauren was a car collector? He has more interests than designing clothes, and in this special you will get to see cars from a collection that's usually kept far from the public eye.

Among our favorites is the 1929 Blower Bentley because, according to Ian Fleming's books, it was what James Bond drove. The Blower Bentley is a big touring car with a 4.5 liter engine. Blower refers to the supercharger that more than doubled the engine's horsepower, from 110 to 240. We're also very much taken with the 1955 Jaguar XKD, but that has a lot to do with the big fin on its back. There are many other classic and exotic cars featured from Ferrari, Bugatti, and McLaren, to name a few.

The special is titled Speed, Style and Beauty: Cars from the Ralph Lauren Collection, and will show on the Discovery Channel. It's going to be a very special evening for car geeks."

    Sounds interesting. Great car collection!

The statistics on sanity are that one out of every four Americans is suffering from some form of mental illness. Think of your three best friends. If they're okay, then it's you.

I think I seen him purchasing an Enzo on some random MTV show last year. Sounds interesting thanks for the heads up.

He let Automobile Magazine borrow his 1938 Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B Mille Miglia (one of only four made) for a recent article. According to them, he also owns a 1938 Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic Coupe (Pebble Beach Best in Show 1990), a 1937 Bugatti Type 57SC Gangloff Drophead Coupe, a 1930 Mercedes-Benz "Count Trossi" SSK (Pebble Beach Best in Show 1993), a 1955 Jaguar XK140, a 1960 Jaguar XK150, a 1955 Jaguar D-Type, a red Jaguar XKSS, a 1929 Birkin Bentley, a 1959 Porsche Carrera Speedster, a 1959 Porsche RSK, a 1986 Ruf Porsche 930 Turbo convertible, three McLaren F1s (two regular, one LM), and that's only part of his collection! He has numerous garages in New York and in Colorado.

Definitely sounds like it'd be something worth seeing.

He has an F50 too and a Ferrari 250 GTO. I saw many of his cars when they were at the Boston Art Museum, I posted pictures I believe, I'll have to find that thread.

    Lauren has some NICE Ferraris, including a 1954 375 Plus, a 1958 250 TR Pontoon (nice), 1960 250GT SWB, 1960 250GT California LWB, a 1961 250 TR 61 (ugly, but important), 1964 250LM, 1965 275 P2/3 (gorgeous), 1967 275 GTB/4 NART Spyder and a few others. However, despite my deep love of Ferrari, my favorite is his 1930 Mercedes-Benz "Count Trossi" SSK.

Just saw this thread and missed the show. Discovery normally airs their specials a few times so hopefully I can catch it. Sounds awesome!
