    Ultima quicker than a Koenigsegg?

Round a track at least! The same Ultima GTR that holds the 0-100-0mph record has, in the last week, beaten the time of the Koenigsegg CCX round the Top Gear test track by 4 seconds...

    The whole story

According to Ultima’s director, Richard Marlow, the company has approached Top Gear on a number of occasions to let the Stig take the wheel of the GTR but have been repeatedly turned down.

    why?

the article is a bit vague about who actually drove the car. Was it the Stig? Only the header refers to him, but if you read the text it is not so clear....

Well, that's their requirement for the car to go around it, hence the Atom being on the board and the Radical not. Could be the reason they turn them down.

So, with their very own benchmark driver at the helm, the independently figured time for the Ultima is so fast that, in a head to head race with a Ferrari Enzo, the 720bhp GTR would lap it every 12 laps.
Someone at Ultima who is quick behind the wheel then.

When you know you can beat pretty much everything that is driving around you for only about £35,000 i would happily not be able to get over a speed bump...

How tall is a speedbump?? Ultima can tackle anything up to 5 inches...
This isn't even their fast version; wait for the 800bhp version to tackle the track. That's the problem with topgear nowadays, they do all this stupid crap, rather than trying out the best cars. Ultima = legendary

Ok, 4 seconds is a lot, but I'm not sure how to place the Ultima. It's a great car, but it isn't really a supercar in the accepted sense. They'd also have to let things like the T1 count and no one who's driven a T1 thinks they'd like to do so on the road very often. Even compared to extreme cars such as the CCX/Enzo/C-GT/Zonda, the Ultima is much cruder, and less comfortable. It also has a confusing range of engine options, and is only regieserable as a kit in most markets. And, as it has fully adjustable suspension, it might not be able to clear a speedbump on the settings used. Set it up for the road, use a standard engine configuration, and let Stigy take it around!
