My hands have had many bloody encounters with Global knives...

Ah, I sort of know the feeling...

...It's not that you can't find anything that you like - it's that everything you want is too expensive to be a gift at Xmas. Big Boy's toys cost more!

Does anyone have suggestions as to where I should look for gift ideas for friends with similar interests to myself (Cars and Computer stuff / games)???

I wouldn't mind Richard Hammonds book, some Clarkson books or Russell Brand's 'My Bookey Wook' either

Clive, for mine you can look at Ford dealers lol

Hmm, well I don't do hats, but the keyring would go nicely with the other half

Skip the Xbox HDDVD player. It's the worst HD player on the market.

My main gripe is it doesn't support lossless audio. I didn't spend the money I have on my HT to listen to compressed/distorted sound. There's better options if you're willing to spend a little bit more money. Toshiba's HD-A2 is on clearance in most places.

Your mileage may vary, since you're on a different continent.

HD-DVD is still relatively new tech - they'll probably change industry standards like 6 times before all players play all discs (especially when HD-DVD recorders are available), same applies to "Blu-ray"

In addition to that, in the UK broadcasting standards are set to be completely updated by adoptation of digital TV rather than conventional analogue, so the standards for AV products in this country are about to undergo massive change

For these reasons, I'm holding back on buying anything "High-def" ATM.

I like that idea. No novelty socks or jumpers that your granny knitted.
