Please help save Castle Combe Circuit!

(I hope this is the right place to post this, if not please move it. If it's inappropriate, just delete it)

As some of you may know, the second oldest race circuit in the U.K, Castle Combe in Wiltshire, is in trouble.

First limited by a noise order preventing it from hosting it's big Summer money maker (F3/British GT), it is now under threat of complete and permanent closure.

In order to silence the NIMBY's (who, in fact, live many miles from the circuit, with no complaints from the residents living right on the circuits doorstep) we have set up a petition.

The more signatures, the better, so get signing!
All that's needed is your name, and your email address (which can be set to private, just used for verification to keep it all legally acceptable).

Castle Combe Circuit urgently needs your support Petition

Let's keep U.K Motorsport alive! Many, many, many thanks to everyone who signs.

British affluent couples think the world shoudl be changed to match their expectations.
We see it with stables .... developer puts up houses in fields next to a working horse stables. Wannabe-Rich twats move in and then spend a year complaining to each other about the smell and then ask the council to take action. Stable owner faces hassle or just packs in and sells up and another bit of "country" which the yuppies wanted gets turned into a lego house land

Yup, just some of this countries ignorant population moving in and getting their own way again, spoiling it for others.

The residents who put in the complaint live 2-4 miles away. The houses just outside the circuit recieve around 30Db of extra noise during the circuit being active than on a normal day, and the loudest cars run at 118-130Db. So, work out how loud it would be 2-4 miles away... someone's hearing things?

Thank you so much for the support.

Something happened like that a few years back in California. Some rich developer moved next to a race track and complained about the noise. He carefully neglected to mention that he had a personal motocross track built in his yard, but mentioned how noisy it was.

Course the track fought back. Hired a helicopter to come over his house while he was in the bath.
I'm dropping out to create a company that starts with motorcycles, then cars, and forty years later signs a legendary Brazilian driver who has a public and expensive feud with his French teammate.

Sorry for the thread hijack, its a very passionate subject of mine

    Same in Australia Peter,
Start Rant/ we have Oran Park in N.S.W closing in 2009, hopefully racing there next year before it closes. Most of our tracks that have shut
because of urban sprawl encroaching on the track and the new residents, wanting it shut. The Oran Park owner recieved a financial offer that he couldnt refuse and sold it to developers, he insists he will build a new circuit but who knows.

Also in Australia the V8 Supercars evil empire are very pro street circuits and the local circuits which depended on the revenue from them now miss out. Drifiting has helped the circuits with cash flow, so it has 1 good thing going for it / End Rant

heres a link to Oran, great little undulating circuit

I'll be sad to see Oran go too. Brilliant little track, so challenging.

sucks to see oran going... same trouble with Mt Cotton hillclimb, now has noise restrictions on the upside, lakeside could very well re-open...thanks in part to the "support street racing, close lakeside" campaign
