    Porsche 917/30

Does anyone know of a more powerful, faster (prototype-) sportscar?

Nope; but then don't forget racing cars are built for racing series (at least the winners are).

The winner is the one with the best interpretation of the rule book allied with the best preperation for the race (obviously a good driver helps).

Personally I wouldn't mind an Audi R8, or a Bentley. Have you seen the size of the restrictors those things breathe through !!
    (or a GT-one).

    Long live LeMans.

This one is a little bit faster I think :

"...1988 was a very significant year for the WM team, since the WM P88 Peugeot achieved the race maximum speed record at Le Mans 24 hours, 405 km per hour!..."

Does this car is a association between Audi and Porsche??
I think about it because it is painted the name of both companies on the car.

I heard about a Suzuki that has more than 1000 hp and is the most powerfull car yet, but I donīt know much information about this car. I just know that it race at the pikeīs peak climbing race in the late 80īs.

    Escudo

Thats a Suzuki Escudo Pikes Peak, succesor to the Suzuki Cultus. It was driven with 982 hp in the race i believe, but ive heard that it had a much higher max hp (1800) when the turbochargers were engaged. Probably not that high though.

The McLaren MP4/4 wasn't a prototype, but it sure was damn fast. The last turbo champion, the most dominant F1 car ever, driven by the two best F1 drivers ever!

Would it be possible, to play forever?
The conclusion reached was that a player is inevitably doomed to lose.

probably the Shadow turbo car from the same Can-Am series had more horsepower, but always failed to transform that into reliability. There was also also a brief appearence of a McLaren M20 8 litre with twin turbo's, but I have no figures on BHP, which is dependent on boost levels anyway.

That's not true...It was not the best ever team...
Sure the drivers were the best in world in 1988 and the car was dominating (turbo buttons and so) with 15 wins in 16 races (losing the only victory in Monza after Senna tried to lap a slow driver and this driver hit him, giving to F****ri the 1-2) and making 10 times the 1-2!!!
But there was a problem in that team...
Senna and Prost were never friends and they showed their badness for each other a lot of times...
Mika is the best!!! Kimi is the best!!! David is the best!!!
    McLaren is the best!!!

Ok, it maybe not the best team ever, but the most succesful than... I think that's a better word for it.

Anyway, does anyone have more facts about the topics car just want to talk about it?

    It was nicknamed: "The Turbo-panzer"
In qualificationtrim the engine could produce up to 1500hp! That's enormous!

The Shadow with the turbo Chevy V8 produced about 1200bhp but I'm not sure if that's in race or qualy trim. It would seem logical that a twin turbo 7600cc V8 would have more power than a 5400cc twin turbo flat 12. Indeed, the power levels varied hugely between settings in the Porsche. (1100 - 1580) depending on boost pressure (Max boost was a huge 2.7 bar). If 1200bhp was race spec for the the Shadow, then maybe 1700bhp would seem about right for qualifying.

In formula 1, the 1.5T BMW I4 could produce up to 1400bhp in qualifying, which would give about 970 bhp per litre. I think some of the GTP cars were also extremely powerful, with the Buick turbo V6 and Chevy turbo V6 being capable of about 1200bhp in qualifying trim. After 1986, power droped off because of the implementation of air restrictors.

Yes, big HP, but that version of the Mk1 Shadow was woefully outclassed by McLaren and Porsche from the beginning and was never reliable. Interesting design for the replacement by Peter Bryant, and because of the rules changes that spooked Porsche and McLaren away, they finally were winners in '74. Their F1 effort didn't go well at all, despite Matra power. Not enough $$$.
