    like poles say - different countries, different customs. i dunno wether there's some saying like that in english. well only similar situation i recall i experienced was when i was about 10 and i would play with a grandma's chicken for 2-3 days and on sunday she made a chicken soup of it. i didn't feel anything eating it

    Well, I suppose part of the idea of a sacrifice is to give up something that is important to you. The fact that you liked this cow in particular makes her death all that more significant. Take comfort in the fact that you did as much as you personally could to make her last days comfortable and peaceful.

    Also, in the big picture, it's only a cow. Suppose you were in a religion that practiced human sacrifice, and it was your schoolmate. Compared to humans, cows have very limited future potential; they are raised and kept alive only so that can be killed at an appropriate time. Generations of selective breeding have produced an animal ideal for human consumption. At the very least, you get a steak dinner out of the deal.

    Perhaps you should talk to your local religious leader about it. I'm sure you're not the first person to have these feelings. An automotive forum is not the best place for religious discussion.
