    I need moar ram

I've pretty much never done a ram install before, and I have no idea what to get. I currently have a gig of the stuff but need more. What brand should I get? What a good place to get them from on the intrawebz? I have a Dell Inspiron E1405. I'm thinking about possibly running vista, and this program I need for school uses alot of memory.

Newegg.com is the best place to buy computer hardware in the US. If you are to run Vista you need at least 2 gigs, otherwise you'll swear at your computer every 30 seconds. Installing RAM in general is easy, no idea how hard it is for a laptop, I've never done it.

    EDIT: lmao @ Gt1Street's reply.

now you know where to get it....installing laptop ram isnt too hard, just remove the correct panel underneath and slot it in. there is sometimes a mechanism which allows the slot to rotate more perpendicular to the case making installation easier.

or just pay the tech an extra 10$ to avoid the risk of breaking stuff that would cost more to fix

if your current stuff feels like its performing well then try and identify the brand and model so you can buy another few sticks. If not, then ram is pretty cheap nowadays. Crucial and Corsair are the brands to go for. Check what your motherboard supports and get the best possible for your budget.

I installed RAM on my laptop about a month ago. It's really simple. Unscrew the cover, press the latch that releases the previous one, pull it out and press yours in. Screw cover back on. Easy.. took 5 minutes.

    Try reading this....

Turns out that if you want to upgrade to 2GB of RAM you need to get at the second memory slot which is under the keyboard....

get a 64bit Vista and you can upgrade to 4GB (although I am not totally certain that the mobo will see it all)

I suggest the 2GB kit here http://http://www.ocztechnology.com/...00_ddr2_sodimm Great RAM it is 800MHz (which your lappy will run at 667MHz). So you know you have room to either OC the memory or decrease the timings (that's what I would do).

Power, whether measured as HP, PS, or KW is what accelerates cars and gets it up to top speed. Power also determines how far you take a wall when you hit it
    Engine torque is an illusion.
