^ define Q cars...if it's like Q ships those listed here are not qualifying

Q car is generally a fairly conventional car that has been modified by the manufacturer to give it sports car caliber performance. Generally they're sedans such as the Lancer EVO, RS4, WRX STi, but sometimes coupes, such as the M3, or wagons, RS4 Avant. I guess convertibles such as the M3 Cabio and RS4 Cabrio fit in this class too.

However, I'd say less conventional modified cars such as the M6/650 or CL550/CL63 fit into the Grand Tourer class.

Hm this is hard! I love my hot hatches though. Followed closely by sports cars then luxury cars, then Q cars and I got to work sports sedans in there somewhere.

i see. not as much emphasis on basic looks like the ships from where the term originated then?

still a tough choice anyway, leaning for sports or hot hatch

Lancer Evo is definetly not a Q car....you could spot the wing from a mile away and tell something was up....

    Ill go grand tourer.

I don't disagree with you, but: Is it a four-door sports car or a slightly oversized hot hatch?

I call the Lancer a Q Car because, despite the fact it's as subtle as a flamethrower, it is a modified very conventional car.

But that isn't a Q-car. A Q-car is a discreet car which can blew the doors of established sportscars.

See Lotus Carlton for a perfect example.
Lack of charisma can be fatal.

Agreed. Q-car means subtle as in 'sleeper' which a body-kitted Lancer is not

A quick sleeper google turned up this which looks ordinary and unspectacular right down to the hubcaps.

    Other examples I've seen include a 100% stock-appearance '73 Cortina wagon (complete with 'Mum's Taxi' sticker) that packs a 351 V8.
Or that well-muffled safety yellow Volvo 240 with the Chev V8
Perhaps this which is a more discrete version of this (quiet exhaust is a must for full effect)
And not forgetting the fully-functional and now famous gasrite plumbers van with roofrack and plastic hubcaps ... oh, and 880 rwhp

Well, of those, I'd say luxury cars, but what I like isn't exactly in any of those definitions...
An it harm none, do as ye will

A big part of the reason I posted this poll was because I was curious about people's definitions of what constitutes a certain type of car. For example I consider the Ferrari 599 GTB to be a sports car, but lots of people call it a GT car.

I'll take a light weight minimalist sportscar any day.

Not that I've had the opportunity to drive one, but I consider the 599 GTB a GT. Eventhough it can outperform nearly all sportscars it possesses all the amenities of a proper GT.
