Red Bull have been called to the stewards to explain why their cars shouldnt be excluded from the weekend, following Coulthards suspension shattering and other fears of suspension fragility from Melbourne.

Here's the incident which got the stewards concerned - YouTube - coulthard crash malaysia

Christian Horner has said that it was a new part that they were using that hadn't been bonded properly. The adhesives failed apparently, and it was just a case of human error and nothing to be concerned about.

We'll see whether the stewards believe him or not...

Nick Heidfeld set the fastest time so far this weekend in Saturday practice.

    BMW for pole?

BMW certainly could put the cat amongst the pigeons in qualifying as they did last week. I'd still predict that the Ferraris will be the cars to beat. They've been the most consistently quick throughout the weekend, provided they don't stack things like last week then I think an all Ferrari front row is pretty likely. The McLarens will be close, as Hamilton proved they do have the one-lap pace when it's called for. They were definitely keeping their powder dry in this final session, both drivers concentrating on set up work for longer runs with heavier fuel loads.

Heidfeld's time was pretty much the only time all weekend that BMW have threatened the top of the time sheets. Whether they've been sandbagging or Heidfeld just produced a miracle lap in the final few seconds remains to be seen.

I'd love to tell you all about what happened throughout the session, but sadly I was 'watching' on a dodgy stream from French television with a screen size of about 1 inch square, and running at about 3fps. I didn't see a damn thing!

Only for the two Friday sessions. For some inexplicable reason they didn't pick up the rights for Saturday Practice.

Pretty sure BMW was sandbagging in the first two sessions.

Rain predicted to hit possibly before the end of Q1. Everyone's going to be out there frantically trying to get a quick lap in ASAP!

Hm commentators just said 90% chance of rain in 30 minutes...this could be interesting. Very interesting.

Download a piece of software called TVU Player - TVU networks | Welcome

Then you should be able to pick up a stream on the "Star Sports" channel.

Alternatively the ITV feed is here if you can manage to find a proxy to make it look like you're from the UK - Live - Video - F1 | ITV Sport

Surprises in Q1 already. Bourdais knocked out and Fisi barely knocked out.

Q1 over - Davidson, Sutil, Sato, Bourdais, Nakajima and Fisichella fail to make it through to the next round.

Fisichella almost got the Force India through to their first Q2 session, just pipped to the post by Barrichello who squeezes through. Trulli looked pretty darned quick it has to be said. The top 16 cars were all within 1 second of the quickest time, so things are very tight out there.

Race director says no rain for 20 minutes.

There's going to be a mad scramble to put up times in Q3.

Ferrari is definitely running light when Raikko puts up a 1:34.1
