Don't believe in these stupid internet things.
-These people...have you asked yourself how they got your email address in the first place?
It might be through one person in your contacts.
-And have you asked yourself why they need you to tell them if anything ever happened after you have forwarded that BOGUS email to 7 people?
It's because they need to know whether you are responding from a genuine/real email address. So that they start sending you spam/useless/bogus/advertising emails.
-Have you asked yourself why they have included that image in their email?
This is because they you to believe that truly the email is genuine and it does what it says. And that they have a motive for every person receiving the email not to be deny forwarding it to 7 other people.
