    Pending Insanity

Well I suspect the insanity is well entrenched, this is just a thread about its latest potential outlet.

I'm currently looking for a Jag XJS, or several!

There is 2 options at this stage:
    1) get a really pristine late model and just some minor changes to make it the way I want (manual, etc)
    2) get a really early car that is still straight, and turn it into a race car.

In Ausustralia there is a series of XJS classes outlined HERE and whilst I sounds very tempting if I go for G then I can almost keep it registrable, and therefore drive it to events and not have to trailer it.

The 2 attachments where generated by Knuto, and may give some idea what I'm considering for some of the 2) mods....

Option 1 sounds like a fantastic idea to me Chris - That's what I want to do with a Mk1 TVR Tuscan S (find a pristine one then make some minor trim changes and chassis upgrades).

If you manage to get a car you're particularly fond of just the way you like it (colour/trim/spec), it'll make it really special for you.

Here's a link to the company that rebuild XJS's "as they should have been built from the start" - You may recognise the XJS from James May's test on 'Top Gear':

no way! where did you find that photo, that's Cowdray ruins, like, right where I live!

The XJS huh? The later models were fantastic lookers, and the V12 sounds so nice, I think option one looks good, nothing could be more satisfying than finding a car you like and properly sorting it out. What's happening with regards to the Aston?

I hearby support this endeavour. I reckon either way sounds like fun, but I really like the idea of a road registered racer Jag, I reckon that'd be brilliant.

Most likely he didn't and instead of a V8 Vantage has to settle for an XJS.

    Probably.

By the way I vote for option 1, but both sound interesting. If you have the stomach (and pockets ) to take on such a car...

I dont really thinks jags are good cars.

that being said, i have always liked them because they are DROP DEAD GORGEOUS!

I hope you do get a couple, there is nothing better than having a passion for a model and being able to persue it! keep us up to date.

The manual conversion I'm considering is the TKO 600 from The Driven Man.

He says the kit will fit a normal car as well as a US car, with the steering wheel on the wrong side... Can anyone see anything more that could be needed here?

Doesn't the VE use the T56 box the guy offers, but doesn't recommend?

If not then I have to have all the stuff made up for it to work, and thats heaps more exxy than buying a kit that has all the bugs (hopefully) sorted.

LS2 in a XJS is a waste of a good engine
