Seems to be some turbo enthusiasts on that board, only 4 non turbo motors. Actually there are more turbos than engines.
Horsepower wins races. Torque pulls trailers.

while in the past turbos were held responsible for increasing fuel consumption sigifinicantly, they are now actually seen as the way to reduce it, by increasing the efficiency of the engine, allowing smaller engine sizes, without the need to rev them before any meaningful performance is generated.
Hence it is only natural to see the amount of turbo engines that you just mentioned.

Wow talk about BMW taking it home!

I love the fact that the engine of the year is the N54B30 (it deserves it) and that it also won the 2.5-3L category. I also like that BMW seemed to show a real connection to the 500cc cylinder displacement winning with the 3L I6 N54B30 the 4L V8 S65B40 and the 5L V10 S85B50 (BTW isn't this the 4th time it has won the Above 4L category and the 10th international engine award?).

It is also great to see turbocharged engines completely take over the awards
Power, whether measured as HP, PS, or KW is what accelerates cars and gets it up to top speed. Power also determines how far you take a wall when you hit it
    Engine torque is an illusion.

Didn't your dad buy a diesel?

I'm curious if the BMW 4.4 V8 Turbo was considered for this year?

I believe the Audi 4.2 V8 should have been a winner, but the winners were all deserving.
