Is nitrous worth putting on a car or are there better ways?

yess it makes the car goed faster
but it also puts bigger stresses on the engine, and therefor gives more wear and tear to the engine. It has to be really carefully installed, otherwise you can have some nice blown up engines.offcourse you don't want that
NO2(or NOS as it is better known) is also limited to a short amount of time that you can use it

It's actually N2O, but not that it matters.Originally Posted by drakkie

turbo is safer but it gives less powerOriginally Posted by Jason77
you can order MG xpowerSV with nitro
12 cylinders or walk!
It depends on what type of car, any paticular car you are thinking about?

Overall in my opionoin i would say no,
facts of my reason
-stress on engine, like drakkie said.
-and only a limited supply.

I don't know really......making your car go faster while turning it into a giant high explosive......? And if it doesn't go off, you just tear your engine apart?
Uuhhhhh............

It all depends on your car. However, imo: Turbocharger > Supercharger > N20. (Once again, this order changes on the type of car.)

im thinking that for little money you can make your car go like stink
not sure if anyone has seen the topgear jag that they nos'd up
that beat all the other 4/5 supercars that were layed out before it on the quater mile
so i would say for short term fun nos is a good laugh and cheap at that too
but to get serious power from it your going to have to upgrade a lot of engine entarnals for aftermarket tough, stronger more durable ones that will take all the extra horses
the more sencible option would be the turbo/supercharge one
not as power but a whole lot more relyable in the longrun

NO2 is what smog's made of, u dont want that
N2O is good and bad on just about any car, just like a bad tune on a supercharger/turbocharger, a bad tune on nitrous will blow up an engine.
N2O will give you a lot more torque than either a turbocharger or a supercharger, but it also wears engine/transmission parts easier.
if you decide to get nitrous, just remember don't press the button before ~2500-3000 RPM's or you will see something like this.

btw my cousin has allready gone through 2 automatic transmissions in the course of a year from havin a 100-150 shot on his 99 camaro SS.(2nd gear has broken on both times)
