Injecting controversy into the thread: the problem with Astons is that they all look a bit similar.

Having said that a manual DB9 is probably my perfect car currently on sale.

Still, I hold that the exhaust notes of the AM's is fantastic.
The best bit about a modern AM (and a Vanq is a borderline one) is that you can have sports and class

What about the headers/cams/pistons? Are these done by Cosworth then?

Is the V8 in the current Vantage an evolution of previous AM V8s or was it designed form the ground up?
The 5.3 litre V8 has nothing to do with the current 4.3/4.7 litre version.

As for the V12 parts, they are AML sourced, but I suspect Cossie may have had some input to the DBR/RS9 and AMV12 Vantage engines. I have no proof of this, just comments made by someone that should know hinted toward that.

Been through this before. What's wrong with looking like the sexiest car on sale today (DB9)?

    Nothing.

But imagine if instead of a beautiful car in different sizes we had cars that were differently beautiful.

The fact that the V12 has no joins in it anywhere would tend to rule against the mated description... That is has the same bore, stroke and bank angle as a Mondeo V6 is because its a good choice for a V12, and gave the guys at Ford design a good place to pitch it from, as it wasn't a totally impractical design from a cost perspective. It also has twin ECUs (apart from the DBS) as nothing Ford used had the capability.
Its obviously not actually "joined together" with 2 Mondeo V6s, but it does share the basic design of the Mondeo block with the casting design and internal passages....saves a bunch of money and development time this way, probably helped them pitched it to the execs when it was first used in the DB7 Vantage....
