I'm dropping out to create a company that starts with motorcycles, then cars, and forty years later signs a legendary Brazilian driver who has a public and expensive feud with his French teammate.

My bad. The poster above me mentioned the 6 cylinders, and I ended up typing that.

Bingo - right on. Ferrari was always a race team before they were a car manufacturer, and in racing, they used a variety of engines to succeed.

The current ultimate Ferrari is - I would then agree - none other than the F2008.

    Turbo.Jenkins, very well determined.

EDIT: The poll of enthusiasts seems to think that cylinders don't matter before Turbo.Jenkins post - it is over a 2-1 margin number of cylinders don't matter.

The ultimate Ferrari might as well be an Alfa Romeo then...

I will disagree with you there. I think the ultimate Ferrari has a V12, you may know it as the FXX. The Scud has new technology that wasnt avaible when the Enzo came out, rember it is an 5 year old car which doesnt seem like a long time but for new technology it is. Im sure Ferrari's next supercar will have a V12 and be even faster then the Scud. Does this mean I dont like V8 Ferrari's? No my favorite Ferrari is the 360 Spyder.

FXX is not the ultimate...it certainly is slower and less technically advanced compared the F2008, which is a F1 car....

the OP has a point tho

most of Ferrari's most famous cars were V12's , their little V12 at one time was their top model & is now one of the worlds most famous cars , ever . . .

& all models from the last decade have had the highest quality levels . they rule in F1 for many reasons , but one of them is production standards , total world class

so far my vote would be for the road capable FXX as being the 'Most Ultimate' that Ferrari have made

I am not quite sure what you mean, but one of the very first Ferraris was an eight cylinder engined Alfa Romeo.
