    New camera or new lens?

I know this question has been asked a thousand times...but I need to know!

I've got a pretty old, (4-5 years old) Canon 300D, entry level SLR, the stock 18-55mm and a cheap 70-300mm Sigma lens. Taking into consideration that, do you think I should be looking at upgrading camera body wise or spending that money on a new lens?

go for the lenses, they will last a lifetime, bodies will wear out.

It depends what you can afford. There is no point in investing in halfway decent lenses.
If you should see a man walking down a crowded street talking aloud to himself, don't run in the opposite direction, but run towards him, because he's a poet. You have nothing to fear from the poet - but the truth.

He said the body is a few years old, maybe it is a lil' worn, time to replace?

How old is the lense? As stated by henk, they last for a long time.

Depending on your price range, go for the lense. It's probably worth more to you at this point in time.

....the lens that came with it is well...the same age as the camera...sigma lens is about 6 months old. don't see what that has to do with anything.

Was just wondering how old twas..

If your gonna get a lense don't go cheap, But if your tossing up between that and a body you probably have the money anyway.

    Go for a new lens.
But like Wouter says. there is no point in buying another halfway decent lens.
Pay the money and keep it forever.
A Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS USM lens and a Canon EF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM would be my choice with an extender.
A dedicated wide angle lens choice would be Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8 L II USM for me.
It's always dependent on you budget and what you photograph.

24-105 is what I've wanted. Practical lens, good range on it. 28-135mm IS USM also looks good to me.

The 24-105 is great. Especially if you plan on moving up the scale towards a 5D or a 1D.

Go lens. Kit lenses are usually not that great anyway and so yeah your body is old but the lens will serve you better in the long run. a 50mm fixed is always great, very fast and some are very cheap.
