well, that shot also shows static wheels....how do we know (and now with no other cars in the background) that the car was moving?
Just asking you this because an earlier shot of mine (Ferrari 312) was (rightly) critisised for not showing enough action due to a too fast shutterspeed...(do you remember, Pat?)

The with a long shutter and tiny DOF, "right spot" moves, which was my point. If the car is moving quickly enough and the DOF is shallow enough, it's going to be in and out of that "right spot" before the shutter closes.
No. I tend not to criticize unless feedback is requested and I don't remember the shot. I agree with John that Wouter's initial comment (regardless of his intentions) came across less as a question and more as a statement that he was doing something wrong.

True, that is a possibility, but not always a reliable one. Admittedly, I have only limited track photography experience (four or five events), but a lot of panning experience. I think the shot is great and while there isn't a ton of motion in the wheels, there's still some.
Haha, DOH! Well I look like an ass, sorry. I was probably still bitter about the constant post-processing remarks at the time, haha.

Ok... just came in from a session... thought I'd put the whole subject to rest.

If you should see a man walking down a crowded street talking aloud to himself, don't run in the opposite direction, but run towards him, because he's a poet. You have nothing to fear from the poet - but the truth.
