The 407 is disproportionate to the point of being unusual & quite quirky.

The C5 just kind of looks like Citroen Designers started with wonderful wacked out ideas, then one day turned up to work in Grey suits & ties and just sort of.....teutonised it.

Haha! That's a scarily accurate assessment of what probably happened. Make no mistake though - it is a good car. It's just a shame it doesn't have the style of a C4 / C6.

it is the price we want to pay to keep pedestrians alive. Other countries produce Hummers....

This is exactly the argument: Those ugly front-ends aren't necessary for pedestrian protection - there are scores of cars that score very well for pedestrian protection that DON'T have tumour-like growths grafted to the front of them.

There are more beautiful ways of keeping pedestrians beautiful.

I just see it as such a lazy excuse from a designers perspective. Indeed, from an engineering perspective too.

while I agree that the front end is long, I do not see your point that the C6 and the C4 are better in this way. I have no pic of a C4 but here are the C5 and the C6 from more or less the same angle. To me it looks clear which one has the longer nose, also in relative terms...

There is size, and there is proportion.

The C5 lacks that critical element of looking properly proportioned. Something the C6 does. while both headlights are in similar positions, the C5's look gloopy and volumous, while the C6's look lithe and sharp.

Perhaps this is part of the point, but I still think the PSA group in general can find a better solution to Pedestrian safety than simply adding a foot to the front of their cars.

My main problem isn't with the actual length of the nose, although it isn't desirable when emerging at junctions, but with the ugliness of certain bulky front-ends. Here's a pic of my C4 from a similar angle and whilst it does have a long nose, IMO it's not ugly like the C5s

That is why I mentioned relaitve terms.
Perhaps it is good to konw that the C5 has 2.82 wheelbase, while the C6 has only 8 centimeters more...(still far away from the 3.11 that the DS had)

Together with the posts from the older thread, that would be a good idea.

Like the Citroen C6 which has a 5 star pedestrian rating IIRC.

    God I love this car.

I have. And it has stupid steering. It's uncomfortable. And doesn't handle.
