    New Nissan 240/Fairlady Z successor

Nissan's plans for an affordable, rear-wheel-drive coupe to slot in below the current Z have been rumored for years and we've been informed that internal politics have killed off at least one revival of an iconic Datsun. If work ever gets underway on another budget coupe, Nissan should seriously pursue Polish designer Iacoski and his interpretation of a 240Z/Fairlady revival.

Aft of the a-pillar, Iacoski's inspiration is clearly apparent, blending the old 240's slopping roofline and short rear overhangs with the muscular haunches and angled fender flares of the current 350Z. Up front, the Photoshop wizard retained the old Fairlady's elongated hood and power bulge, and matched them with a front air dam, bumper and headlamp arrangement influenced by the second GTR Proto concept.

[B]I kind of like this design, it has hints of the old Datsun, plus hints of the new GTR in the front bodykit...I wouldn't mind seeing this car hit production...B]

A minor change in Nissan's plans would be better.

I don't know, like not producing it instead of producing it.

Well to sum up my thoughts about it:

    (quoting myself directly from MSN):

I hope it's only a stupid render made by a stupid GT-R fanboi drinking Red Bull in his free time (aka his life) in his basement with no lights on (except for his PC LEDs)

Well, I love the current Z design, and I just don't like the renders of the new one at all. Perhaps if they were more realistic I would appreciate the design idea a bit more.

True...when I 1st saw the rendering I didnt like it too well...but then it kinda grew on me little by little...I just like how they incorporated the old school Z look into it...

And none of you guys were here early enough (except clutch) to realise IACOSKI used to compete in our weekly chop comps, and show us all his designs first hand.

Glad to see he is still chopping - And still designing brilliantly. I'd hit it.

    I don't mind it.

but hey, they'll likely stick with the current form.

they'll surely make this lighter and about as ugly as the 350Z, wonder what kind of specs they'll end up with.

the 350z is morphing into the 370z by all accounts.

doesn't bode well for this "lighter" you dream of. it's likely to follow the same path as the old Z - get fat & flabby until the sporting pretention disappears.
