if someone could tell me what's going on with those engines on the tarp and in the moke... because all i can tell is that it looks like they've taken the head off something else and stuck it on?

It looks like a twin-cam and cross-flow conversion.
If you should see a man walking down a crowded street talking aloud to himself, don't run in the opposite direction, but run towards him, because he's a poet. You have nothing to fear from the poet - but the truth.

I like the lime green Mini - what version is it?
Lack of charisma can be fatal.
Visca Catalunya!
There were custom cross-flow twincam heads made in England for a while.. I saw one in a mini down at my local mini garage once when I was in Perth. Apparently they're pretty damn effective at opening up the top end of the rev range for a worked 1275. I think that one had a weber of some description bolted to the front of it too.
Life's too short to drive bad cars.
Can't place what that head is off originally.
VERY common to see that for Minis now as the best/easiest way to get ooodles of power
Also compelte engine transplants are common with frames available to use.

okay apparently the head is off a 4cyl BMW motorbike engine... the whole package seems to be monstrously tall!

Hey I've heard of that conversion before .. choose your weapon The MiniMan's Projects
do all Minis in Oz have that Lada-ish front end?
"Kimi, can you improve on your [race] finish?"
"No. My Finnish is fine; I am from Finland. Do you have any water?"
well the guy who did the ones in the pic live locally..with mine i was going to do the basic s/c + cam route, but these do look interesting...and if they're cheapish...
the thing is they do look a lot taller, may not clear the bonnet haha
the clubman front end? all local built mini's did iirc. round nosed ones were imported, well at least mine was

Oh, thanks
I like the roundnose better, but the touring car is pretty sweet
