You know, that's one thing I excel at: Internet sarcasm. I mean, thanks to IBrake4Rainbows and Wouter (especially Wouter actually) I learned how to be a huge champion at the venerable art of being sarcastic.

However... I suck at deciphering sarcasm

Since there is already a thread for it.....

Apparently the LHC is being run at full power sometime over the next two weeks or so (mid-November is what every site says.....anyone hear anything more specific?). It is pretty intense, especially having re-read the list of things they are looking for and what they are using, it is pretty damn exciting!

Between what will result from the LHC's experiments, the recent advances in medicine/genetics and functioning ion propulsion, I gotta say.....the 21st century is pretty awesome for geeks </thread-revival>

EDIT: Figured I would list a few things I found cool, relating to what they are looking for, feel free to mention others:
Dark matter/energy, anti-matter and where it all went (supposedly equal amounts of matter and anti-matter in the universe), and of course, that dastardly "little" (apparently it is supposed to be almost obscenely large considering we haven't seen it yet!?) Higgs Boson, the particle that is supposed to prove/disprove string theory and with it super symmetry and the Standard Model (less of an impact on these last two....but still).

Other things though that are pretty cool are the non sub-atomic particle based tests they will be doing, like colliding ions to see if they can find a form of plasma that they think was very key in the start of the universe/the big bang.

All in all......Damn, physics, youza crazy bitch!

They'll start it now? I better say goodbye to the world then ....
If you should see a man walking down a crowded street talking aloud to himself, don't run in the opposite direction, but run towards him, because he's a poet. You have nothing to fear from the poet - but the truth.

Seeing as we are here to talk about it I'm pretty sure that there wasn't an equal amount

I'm looking forward to seeing some results from the LHC.

Are you sure about this? I thought the Higgs boson was about proving which model is correct, dpeendant on its mass. I'll have to read up a bit more

EDIT: I'll while we are on physics... best physics related picture ever

What could result. Will be interesting to see what comes, and who is right about what. Turn the damned thing on already!

Well, things will be discovered/learned/better understood. What side they come up on, indeed, we shall see

Anyone want to bet on whether or not the damn thing will break again? (or the earth exploding? )

Will they run it at full power on 12/20/2012? At 12:20 (or should it be 20:12?)

    Good day for a picnic.

^^^^^ Best reason I've ever read for why date shoudl by day month year ....
You can only get 2012 2012 the good 'ole British way.

SO clearly it WILL be the end of the world

Personally I plan to spend the WHOLE day on the 'Ring ... coz then even if it doesn't end it won't have been a waste of time

I will bet you one billion, million dollars that the world explodes.

Just try to get the money from me after we're all disintegrated.
