The NASCAR drivers, even those who are getting paid millions are all idiots who can't drive. I mean look at that Montoya guy. Where in the hell did he come from? If he represents the average NASCAR driver I can see why the whole thing is a big joke.

Oh wait, is Montoya that F1 guy? Perhaps all those stupid hicks can drive. Naw, the F1 guys must also suck.

Not quite as much as your knowledge of racing
JPM was a not-bad driver climbing the ranks but failed to get into F1 along with his peers ..... so he did a couple of seasons of F3000 and then WON CART in 1999, then bombed in season 2000 presumably as he was influencing the desperate teams to let him into F1.
I know of very VERY few F1 followers who ever believed JPM was going to suceed

Clearly F1 drivers suck just as much as Nascar drivers.

Yes, the best drivers are actually in sportscar and touring car where the wages are lower - that doesn't bother them though as they know that the guys in F1 and NASCAR are worse than them.

As for why F1 pays worse drivers more than any other series and any other sport, that's just one of life's mysteries.

And I know you guys were kidding.

Being serious for a moment I wonder what would happen if you put a modern driver in a say Auto Union Typ C and tell him to drive to the limit.

What'd happen if you put an Auto Union Type C driver in the F2008?

They would have a sore neck that's for sure.

The best driver in the world is probably building mud bricks in a 3rd world country. Practically every motor racing driver in the world is only there because of money. They either had it in their family and were interested in racing, or convinced somebody else to sponsor them with a flash of talent.

Even then, the top 100 drivers in the world from all disciplines of motorsport would probably set a fastest lap time within a few tenths from slowest to fastest. The best just set that time lap after lap.
