Lucky bastard. I still don't understand how we can have pumpjacks practically in our back yard, a Delek Refining Co. refinery in our own city, and still pay more than others.

Because it is probably an old oil field and doesn't yield more than a few dozen barrels a day. The land oil fields in Texas and California have been pretty much exhausted over the past few decades from when they produced millions of barrels a day in the 30s through the 70s.

They've been putting in new wells here lately by the dozen. In any case, we're a lot closer than most and our prices don't particularly reflect it.

Probably has to be shipped somewhere else and then back to you. Found out packages coming to me in the mail go through my town to another city to be sorted, then back to me.

I live in the middle of one the world's largest refinery and oil products trading area....does not affect prices at the pump a single bit....

Doesn't that have a lot to do with tax, though?

I am comparing with prices in the rest of the country, which are under the same tax regime...

Oh, ok, I get what you're saying. I thought you meant the whole country. What is the tax on gas there, anyways?
