    Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix cancelled for 2009

    Indycar and ALMS race gone, but the poor road course won't be missed. How about a race instead at Portland International Raceway or Michigan International Speedway?

    ALMS has mulled a return to the Portland International Raceway, but I think the problem there is sufficient financial backing. I don't think Joe's Sporting Goods will foot the entire bill.

    Although, if the race occurs during the Rose Festival, it might help sponsorship...
