Yes, but it also weighs a buttload more than the elise, so they needed something bigger/more powerfull.

Partly because it is a big, comfy sedan with almost unlimited scope for straightline grunt and partly to lord it over every other county that can't have one.
Aus$25k by the time I'll be looking.

Suzuki Alto works (RS/Z, ff, 5mt)

700kg, 8000+rpm tacho, easy turbo upgrade path, cheap as to buy and cheap as to run. That will be my living in Japan car.

I'd dearly love to slot a 1UZ into my E28, but that will probably never happen. I would love that car in ways that the evangelicals would protest about.

    trying to be realistic.

    daily drive:

    Fiat Panda 100HP

you can buy a recent one, with just a few miles, for less then 10.000 €, it's pretty fast and nimble, cheap to run, comfy enough in the city and even cute

    week-end car:

    Dino/Ferrari 208/308 GT4

it's about 15.000 euro for a 208 badged as a Dino, so before 1974 IIRC or something.
A lot of people say this is the ugliest Ferrari ever, but I actually like it, it's screaming "Seventies!" from every angle.
I don't care if it's going to be the 3.0 liter or the 2.0 liter, either about the badge.
the 2.0 it's cheaper to buy and run though.

if the Dino isn't available I would really appreciate one of these:

    Alfa Romeo GT Junior 1.3

it costs about as much as the Dino, and it's even sexier.
Definitely a "must have" for all Italian guys (with just this much of brain and taste) older than 30 (even if I'm younger).

    finally, the family car:

    Mercedes-Benz R-Klasse (let's say the 280 CDI, perhaps 4-matic if available)

preferably a second hand one, with all the latest updates for the software.
It's a huge crossover, and just for this reason I shouldn't post it, but it's very comfortable, spacious, and actually worth the money (when you find one actually working).
it would be good for kids+luggages trips, for towing the Dino/Alfa to some circuits, or for carry over the grandma.
it should be the car you drive just when required.

being smart enough, the three cars should come for about 50.000 € in a couple of years (just because of the Benz). it's not something I could even dream about right now, but neither something impossible to reach.
I would be fine with just the Panda btw, kthnksbai.

    Very nice list, Leon!

Oddly, that was already the third time when humble Fiat Panda is mentioned here. Who would have thought?

But not in something that nice

And a used LR3 can be had for about $18,000 which isn't bad.
Ok, you could find one here too for less than €20,000 which was cheaper than I thought, I guess I haven't been looking. Still, you know my choice.

Aaw, you guys seem to have some of the cheapest S2000's I've ever seen then. In Europe (most of it) you'd have to pay around twice that.

Honestly I think they could be fun if for no other reason than repeatedly rolling them.

because it has the same underpinnings as the 500 and its faster derivatives????

It's not entirely bad, despite being pretty much an MPV.
And the R63 AMG hauls serious ass
