I'm ordering from Warmoth with the "Warmoth" style headstock, it's pretty similar to the PRS style. This is actually exactly what I'm ordering, mahogany and rosewood.

The body is gold? Personally I would go with black, but it depends on the overall look, like what is the hardware?

I ordered the neck a week and a half ago, they said 6-8 weeks. So I'm kind of at a standstill until then.

He says he wants a red pick guard which I think is not going to look good. The hardware is all black. Here is the guitar right now.

    Definitely go with black.

Neck still isn't here...growing impatient. I haven't been charged for it yet either, so I hope they've actually put the order through, I am going to email to confirm.

Neck came. Fantastic quality, probably better than the Fender one it is modeled after. I will put up pictures later.

Off to oil the neck and do some sanding on the body. All I have left is:
    • Route electronics cavity
    • Drill 5-6 holes
    • Dye and oil body
    • Assemble

    WOO!

    Black dye:

    After sanding that down:

    As it sits now, drying:

The shitty cell phone pictures make it look like nothing on the body is straight but it is. It's also a little darker than the pictures make it look.

I don't have anything on it besides dye so far. I'll probably use an oil to really make the grain "pop" then clear it with nitro-cellulose for protection.

Well the dye came out really brown instead of reddish brown (not sure why, same formulation dye as I used on the test piece I did on a scrap piece of wood left over from cutting out the shape) but I actually really like how it came out. Kind of a tobacco color, but really dark. So I've oiled a few coats and today I think I will spray first one or two coats of clear. Wish me luck!

I like the brown over the red actually. Funny thing is that I was painting my room a similar red color at the bottom and it came out in a similar brown.
