What made you choose the GLI over the GTI?
I like more sleeker look of the jetta vs the hatchback design. I wish they made a 2 door jetta, but I've found the 4 doors to be quite convenient. Plus, it's much more practical for traveling wtih family and friends. There is an amazing amount of options here, it's weird that doesn't apply across the pond for you guys.

Yeah, I think I'd struggle to make a decision if I had the choice between the two. It's strange that we don't have the range of options seeing as we're probably one of most lucrative markets for VW... And I still don't get why you guys have the Rabbit rather than the Golf...

    But in fact you do.

In some markets (like Germany and the UK) the Jetta is available with the 2 litre turbocharged engine from the GTI, just as a regular model. Other markets, like Spain or Italy don't have it though. In our case the most powerful petrol engine available is the 160bhp 1.4 litre twincharged unit.

This is true... But I mean as a separate model in its own right. I suppose it can't be too hard to fit a Golf GTI front end and ship GLI Skirts and Rear Bumper over from the states, but then you're still left with the standard interior. Door panels, dials, steering wheel, seats, mats, gear knob and gaiter etc...

Jonny, I was out and about in town today, saw a couple of Golf GTI Edition 30s (230bhp Anniversary Edition) the 18inch alloys these came with would look schweet on a Jetta. (I think they're called ‘Pescara’)

I took some pictures, but it was difficult to get any decent ones as I had limited space and a 70-300mm 1:4-5.6G telephoto zoom lens on...

You say that as bad thing, but a 200bhp Jetta that looks the same as the base 105bhp diesel is excellent in my opinion.

on the other hand a Jetta or Golf with 200 bhp and the look of a riced Supra is ridiculous.

The GTI 30 wheels are sublime. A set of those in anthracite would look immensely good on your bright red Jetta, Johnny.

Thanks for the pics. Those would look killer. I think they are BBS CH's which sell for 470/wheel.

These are a little cheaper at 375/ wheel :

I'm still trying to sell my truck, and then my tax return will be coming around so any mods are on hold till then.

I've got about 15 of those 2 Golfs on Flickr. As David said, in anthracite on red <3 Would you be able to get some cheaper through VW?
