    We call it "the birthday gift" because my birthday is 9/11... the car was built on 9/2/66 and delivered 9/12/66. We purchased it July 2009. Just finished the resto if it's not obvious.

    (I know, I know... the European date order is day/month/year)

    It's early... roughly, the first 400 or so "S" cars were post August 1966 production.

    The oldest one I have is 305278S, which raced at the Daytona 24 hours in 1967. You may have seen that at Laguna too.

    Porsche 911S #305278

    Here are some shots of Alan's car, although in 2017 we saw the car being driven by our Belgian friend Johan Dirickx, an avid 911 collector. Did Alan sell it or did he give Johan a drive for the weekend? Last shot was taken during the Concours on the Avenue in Carmel in 2917, the last time we went to California during the Pebble week.

    A and B series cars are SWB (2,211mm) including 1968... LWB (2,268mm) starts with C series cars in 1969 and continues until the introduction of the 964 chassis in 1989 with a minor bump to 2270mm.

    I'd love to help where I can. But i feel we are talking a different language when it comes down to Porsche 911's.

    I'm Just following Henk4 and making 4 or 5 categories for the 911 from 1963-1986.
    Because one thread wasn't sufficient.

    If you all like to post some high resolution photos you are welcome.
    But please don't mix different versions in one post, so it can be easily be broken up if needed in the future.

    I know I haven't posted here for a while ago, but wouldn't it be easier to split the threads as per engine displacement? No very specific knowledge of the models is needed as well doing so. See example in Wikipedia.

    • 2.0-litre / O, A and B series (1964–1969)
    • 2.2-litre / C and D series (1969–1971)
    • 2.4-litre / E and F series (1971–1973)
    • Carrera RS (1973 and 1974)
    • 2.7-litre / G, H, I and J series (1974–1977)
    • Carrera 3.0 (1976–1977)
    • Turbo (Type 930) (1974–1989) (already exists)
    • SC / L, M, A, B, C and D series (1978–1983)
    • 3.2 Carrera / E, F, G, H, I, J and K series (1984–1989)


    But Henk4 suggested making a threads based on VIN code:

    I am happy with the input, really I am.
    I'm not frustrated about it. I just think I will delete the 2 new threads. And leave it with the original 911 classic thread.
