Lamborghini Gallardo GT2: Successful test of 50th REITER Gallardo in Salzburg

The roll-out of the Reiter Engineering developed Lamborghini Gallardo LP560 GT2 was made at the official Le Mans Series test at Paul Ricard on 9th March 2009. Subsequently and In spite of the adverse weather conditions Hans Reiter’s team was able to complete the first successful proper evaluation test at the squad’s local circuit, the Salzburgring on 31st March 2009.

Despite the unfavourable Austrian weather (cold track and air temperatures and some snow flurries ) regular Reiter drivers Peter Kox (NL) and Roman Rusinov (RU) were able to reel off many trouble-free kilometres with the new GT2 Gallardo. “The characteristics of the new V10 power plant really impressed me,” said a delighted Peter Kox following the testing session.

However, due to the relative lack of testing kilometres completed up to now, Reiter Engineering have decided to miss the first race this coming weekend at Barcelona with the Gallardo LP560 GT2 . Instead, the team will take the opportunity on Monday and Tuesday of the following week to test at Paul Ricard, France during the official FIA GT test days with drivers Christophe Bouchut and Albert von Thurn und Taxis.

“It wouldn’t make any sense to contest a 1,000 kilometre race with so little testing completed,” stated Team Principal Hans Reiter explaining the reason for postponing the start of his team’s race programme. “We’ll now put the new GT2 Gallardo through an extremely tough test programme before targeting a debut at the 1,000 kilometre race in Spa on the second weekend in May.

Reiter Engineering now offers a wide ranging GT programme with the Gallardo LP560 in the GT2 category whilst the Reiter Engineering prepared Lamborghini Murciélago competes in the top GT1 class and the sister Gallardo model races in the GT2 and GT3 categories. The Lamborghini Gallardo GT3 has been a great success with 49 examples produced between 2006 and 2008. The newly initiated Gallardo LP560 GT2 is therefore not only a new project but it is also the 50th race prepared Gallardo to be produced by Reiter Engineering

it looks extremely close to the stock version, more so than any of its GT2 peers, will it actually have 560hp as the name suggests or is that only coming from the homologated street model? If it does the FIA would be sure to impose a sever weight penalty as that is significantly more than the F430 GT2 and GT3 RSR's

InterProgressBank must have made radical changes within their marketing department. Maybe they laid off their director of marketing because his bonus was too large, so they hired a 13 year old photoshop novice to fill in.
