I just found this car on eBay, a 1960 Chevy Impala in amazing condition.

I'd wind down my windows, put on some epic beat and drive slowly for thousand of miles.

Also, this car is epically long as well.

As for my car, aircraft carrier sized sounds about right!
And they're pre nuclear powered too, so they have the same thirst.

Back to visibility, the nurse for my mom pulled up a few weeks ago in her daughter's Pontiac G6. From these photos I took, it is easy to tell that the front and rear fenders are not even visible...

I've seen a few of those '60 Chevys at car shows. They are impressive! And big, too.

Some have "grown," but they are not as big as '60/'70s cars.

I don't know if the G6 is a good example, just because I think it's a pile of s*** personally. My friend's girlfriend owns one and I've driven it... it's kind of awkward as you can't tell how big it really is and the steering feels like it's on novacaine (sp?). Then again, the visibility of the fins and fenders of your Cadillac probably has a lot to do with it's gigantic size, it's kind of hard to miss the bumpers view when the overhang is that large.

What goes for that G6 applies to many cars. My brother's Acura has just as big a blind spot... can't see any of the ends of the fenders. Same with my other brother's Camry. Those cars with the highbeltline in the back (a tall rear end) is going to have that problem.

As for my Cadillac, true about the rear overhang... it sticks out a lot so it's easy to see. But it would be easier to see the hood on any car if it didn't slope down like so many do these days.

Just come across this thread. I've done 3,000 miles in the E type over 10 days with no problems and once over 1,000 miles in a day in it (Le Mans to Croatia). Over 100,000 in all to be factual. But, give me the chance to have the car of my choice and I guess I'd go for a Jaguar XKSS. A D type with wipers and a hood. Anyone got a spare £1,5 million?

I think for such travel should be take the car, where you can sleep well, when a friend at the wheel. Perhaps Audi S8 or Bentley Continental Flying Spur.

I think I would choose a Ferrari 250 GT SWB.

For a 1000 mile trip? You seem to have bones made of granite and titanium.

For a 250 SWB, I can make that sacrifice. However, I don't see any fun in doing 3000 miles of highways.
