This genuinely makes me laugh out loud.

The concept is not as inheirantly flawed as we may consider - it lowers Aston Martin's Fleet CO2 average tremendously, and can be used as a "2 for 1" bargain offer.

Even so...My ass has seperated itself from the rest of my body when I saw it.

The only plus-side to this is it will be the only Aston product with bespoke headlights.

It is a good idea - just incredibly badly executed. It isn't a small car that cheapens AM's image, it's that it's a ****ing Toyota.

I do agree that it's a failure of brand association.

Perhaps they should instead have looked at the Gordon Murray future vehicle he was working on.

Oh wait, this is supposed to be a cheap method of brand awareness.

And lol for them comparing a regular aston to a Luxury Yacht. they don't ALL handle like boats

Ugghhhh. First Porsche, now Aston Martin. If trying to supercharge sales volume weren't in the question, then idiotic vehicles from what were supposed to be dedicated high end sports car manufacturers would never happen. They were supposed to be a second vehicle, a weekend or after work fun vehicle. Now, they're collecting groceries?

I understand that it makes sense for companies to sell products that will boost their capital and potential for faster growth. However, by only building one type of product for decades, its impossible not to create a sort of purity law image in the heads of their enthusiasts. When that image is distorted by the introduction of products that tend to buyers of the complete opposite "needs" class, its hard not to feel somewhat sick on the inside.

Financially speaking, great job guys, but as a car enthusiast, I can't force myself to approve of these outlandish endeavors from the companies that I (am trying) to respect so much.

All I can say is, Ducati better not start building ATVs. I'll be seriously pi$$ed off. lol

They aren't actually building a cruiser. The closest things they have to anything remotely cruiser like are the Monster and Streetfighter, and by cruiser like I mean that they're missing fairings.

That bike from the picture is either a photoshop creation or some guy's custom work, not a production Ducati.

This little car has nothing to do with raising profits, market demands or trying to break into a new niche. IMO they HAVE to build a little car like this to comply to the new average fleet-CO2 emission regulations.
I don't think they even have a choice. The fines for every gram above the allowed CO2 are huge. (around €95/gram IIRC, for every registered vehicle*) They could just throw the Cygnet in when you buy another Aston Martin. That way 50% of the cars they sell will be eco-friendly! hooray!

*A DB9 exchausts 389g/km. The European fleet average-limit is 130g (in 2012). That would mean around €25000 per sold/registered Aston Martin.
